The Merced City Council will be holding four special meetings to discuss the budget during the month of May. The budget review sessions will be held at 6 p.m. May 13, 14, 22 and 29 in the Merced Civic Center, 678 W. 18th St.
The sessions are intended to give the public a look at the budgets of the different departments in the City as the Council goes through the review process. The May 13 session will cover the Police, Fire and Recreation Departments. The other City Departments will be reviewed at the May 14 session. The follow-up sessions will be used to answer questions that come out of the initial meetings. If needed, an additional budget review session will be held June 10.
The Council is scheduled to hold its public hearing on the budget on June 3. The budget is scheduled for adoption June 17. The proposed budget is expected to be released the week of April 22 and will be available on the City’s website, www.cityofmerced.org.
