The "VoicePermits" Interactive Voice Response system (IVR) is used for scheduling building, fire or public works inspections for the City of Merced. When calling for an inspection, you must call our inspection IVR system. The City of Merced Inspection IVR number is (209) 723-2489.

In order to facilitate the number of inspectors needed to complete inspections on a given day, the City of Merced Inspection Services Department is requiring:

CALL IN YOUR INSPECTIONS BY 4:00PM THE BUSINESS DAY PRIOR TO YOUR INSPECTION.

(Example: Need your inspection on Monday, call the previous Friday by 4:00)

Inspections are available Monday through Friday, 8:00am- 4:00pm, except holidays.

It is best to use a “land” line where possible as mobile/cell phones often lose signal or are not fully understood by the IVR system.

*** Note: The IVR system is unavailable for transactions during the hours of 12:45 a.m. – 3:15 a.m. daily. Please do not call to schedule or check inspections during these hours ***
