Home MenuLocal Hazard Mitigation Plan
While no one can predict or protect the City against every possible natural hazard, potential impacts can be anticipated and steps taken to avoid or reduce the harm they may cause.
The City has adopted a Local Hazard Mitigation Plan where potential natural hazards that threaten communities are identified such as flooding, earthquakes, fire, and fog. The plan also explains how these natural hazards would affect the community and then strategizes the best way to save lives and reduce property damage in the event that one of these types of natural disasters occurs in Merced. By planning ahead we can save lives and prevent injuries!
This work was supported by a grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and was a prerequisite to obtain future funds for construction of hazard mitigation projects, such as flood detention basins.
