The Records Division is responsible for the transcription, copying and filing of all police reports generated by all Police Department divisions. They also manage the subpoena and warrants service process and the mailing of all reports. Records clerks are also responsible for taking payment for stored vehicles, processing release of property forms for stored vehicles and providing copies of various reports to the public upon request. Records personnel also staff the front desk, answering and directing calls and providing assistance to the citizens who come into the station. Records personnel also staff the front desk at the police substations.
NEW hours for the Central Station and South Station are as of Monday, October 7th:
CENTRAL STATION, 611 W 22nd St
Monday through Friday
8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. open during lunch, excludes holidays
SOUTH STATION, 1040 W Canal St
Monday through Friday
9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. closed 1:30-2:30 for lunch, excludes holidays

To purchase a report, you can:
- come to the Merced Police Department at 611 W 22nd St and purchase a report for $.10 per page; or,
- request a report through the mail by sending a letter with $.50 per report and a self addressed stamped envelope to: Merced Police Department - Records, 611 W 22nd St, Merced, CA, 95340
Note: if you are requesting a report on behalf of a client, a signed authorization for release of information must be signed by the client and enclosed with your letter along with the $.50 and self addressed stamped envelope.
